THE MISSION

Jim & Jackie Koonce established the Koonce Family Scholarship Fund with the belief that it is important to support the next generation of teachers and business leaders.

Jackie was a teacher for 26 years and ran a retail business.  Jim was a business leader owning a retail business and working in the insurance industry for over 45 years.

Jim, Jackie and their daughter Jamie believe in supporting local students and giving them opportunities as they pursue degrees in education or business, or in learning trades.

Scholarship guidelines

Typical Award Amount

·         $1,000 per award or more

Eligibility 

·         Carterville High School graduate, continuing education at college, university or technical institute

·         Preference to students pursuing a degree related to Education or Business

·         Academics are considered but Financial Need/Opportunity is important

Requirements

·         Briefly respond to the following questions (300 characters or less):

o   What degree are you pursuing and how you will use it?

o   How do you plan to pay for your education?

o   What financial barriers are a challenge to your educational goals?

·         Grade Point Average of 2.00 and above

·         Briefly describe (300 characters or less)

o   Work Experience/Volunteer Activities

o   Extra-Curricular Activities
