Jason Settlemoir Keep the Music Playing – Memorial Scholarship
Jason Settlemoir (1977-2015) graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1996 and was very active in the Fine Arts, playing trombone in the Band and Jazz Band, as well as participating in the Madrigals and Jazz Choir.
He was an outstanding trombone player and continued with his talent and passion for music after graduation. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Illinois State University, and then attended the University of New Mexico where he received a Master’s Degree in Music Performance.
Those who knew Jason appreciated his wit and sense of humor as much as his outstanding musicianship. The Jason Settlemoir Keep the Music Playing Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a BCHS senior who has decided to keep the music playing after high school by majoring or minoring in the Fine Arts.
