This scholarship is given in memory of Jake Turner of Carterville, IL.

Jake was a 2015 graduate of Carterville High School, and most recently graduated from the University of South Florida in 2018, with a degree in electrical engineering.Upon graduation, Jake accepted a position with Feld Entertainment, specifically with the International tour of Disney On Ice. Most recently, he had been on tour to Mexico and had just returned from a multi-month stay in Australia. He was headed to Europe the week of his passing.With a smile and personality that would light up any occasion, Jake loved two things: adventuring, particularly outdoor adventuring, and his friends and family. From kayaking to camping, skydiving, riding his motorcycle or just enjoying quiet time in his hammock, Jake had a passion for being outdoors. He loved his friends equally as much, and maintained close contact with almost everyone he met.

While growing up in Carterville, Jake was a multi-sport athlete at Carterville High School. Jake worked extremely hard to improve his skills in every way. Surrounded by a close-knit group of friends and teammates, he was part of the Lions Football team that advanced to the IHSA football quarter-final game. Later that year, his Carterville Lions Basketball team advanced to the Super-sectionals of the IHSA basketball tournament.
