FERGUSON
SCHOLARSHIP FUND.
This fund was established in the memory of Dr Brenda Ferguson to benefit a graduating senior from Herrin High Schools.
This scholarship was made in memory of Dr. Brenda Ferguson to benefit a graduating senior from Herrin High School who is looking to continue their education.
Dr. Ferguson graduated from Benton High School in 1959. She earned a 4-H scholarship to University of Illinois, where she achieved her bachelor’s and masters degrees of education; and an administrative certificate and doctorate degree in education from SIU. She worked as a teacher and administrator in Rantoul, Belleville and Herrin, and went on to become the director of Williamson County CTE systems and later was appointed as senior advisor to the governor for Workforce and Education for the state of Illinois. She finished her career as Williamson County Career and Technical Education System director.
In addition to her 4-H scholarship, she also received many other accolades including, but not limited to the following: Mid-South Regional Partnership Coalition Award, Vocational Association Affiliate Professional Gold Award, IL Vocational Association Educator of the Year Award, and a Charter Member of the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame. While at University of Illinois, Brenda was voted Snow Ball Queen as well as Miss Michigan State on the prestigious U of I Homecoming Court. She was also the program director for Block I. Brenda was a member of Delta Pi sorority in Herrin.

Requirements:
- High School Overall GPA of 3.00 or higher
- ACT/SAT scores of 20/1030-1050 or higher
- Extracurricular activities/organizations including leadership positions, community involvement and civic participation.
- Personal Essay
- Submit two Letters of Recommendation. One letter must be from someone outside the school system.
